State theorem of parallel axes and therom of perpendi cular axes about moment of inertia.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The theorem of perallel axis states that the moment of inertia (I) of a body about any axis is equal to the sum of its moment of inertia `( I_(CM))` abunt a parallel axis through the centre of mass and the product of the mass M of the body and the square of the perpenducular distance a between the two parallel axes.
The theorem of perpendicular axes states that the moment of inertial of a plane lamina about an axis perpendicular to its plane is equal to the sum of its moment of inertia about two mutually perpendicualr axes in its plane and through the point of intersection of the perpendicualr axis and the lamina.
