A bob of a simple pendulum of length l is negatively charged. A positively-charged metal plate is placed just below the bobt and the pendulum is made to oscillate. What will be the effect on the time period of the pendulum?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Due to force of attraction between positively charged metal plate and negatively charged bob of pendulum, the effective value of 'g' increases. As `Tprop1//sqrt(g)`, so the time period will decrease.
