A workman agrees to accept certain wages for the first month, on the understanding that his pay is to be increased one rupee every subsequent month untill the maximum of Rs. 300 is reached. At the end of the month for which he received Rs. 300 for first time, he resigns and finds that his wages during his period of service have averaged Rs. 288 a month. How long has he served.
