`K_(1) = 1/2 mv^(2)=1/2xx(0.5)xx(2)^(2)=1J`
After collision , the combined mass `=0.5+1=1.5kg`
and let v be the velocity of the combined mass after collision .

`0.5xx2=(1.5)v:. v=2/3 m//s`
and the final K.E is
`K_(2) = 1/2(1.5)xx(2/3)^(2)=1/3J`
