A boy runs 210m along corridor of his school turns right at the end of the corridor and runs 180 m to the end of the building and then turns right and runs 30 m.
(i) Construct a vector diagram that represents this motion. Indicate your choice of unit vectors.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

We choose , `hati` =unit vector along x-axis, `hatj` =unit vector along y-axis,

The consecutive displacements are,
`vec(AB)=210hatim, vec(BC)=-180hatjm,vec(CD)=-30hatim`

A trolley of mass 200 kg moves with a uniform speed of 36 km/h on a frictionless track. A child of mass 20 kg runs on the trolley from one end the other (10 m away) with a speed to 4m/s relative to the trolley in a direction opposite to the trolly's motion and jump out of the trolly. What is the final speed of the trolly? How much has the trolly moved from the time the child begins to run?
