At what velocity will a rocket escape the gravitational pull of the earth ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

To be free from the gravitational pull of the earth, a rocket need not have any minimum velocity. When the fuel in the rocket burns, a reaction force acts on the rocket. When the average reactions force exceeds the average gravitational attraction of the earth on the rocket, it escape the earth.s gravitational field.
