You are given a piece of charcoal. How will you find out whether it forms basic oxide or acidic oxide.

Text Solution

The piece of a charcoal may be taken on a deflagrating spoon and burnt, lowering the spoon in a gas jar. After the charcoal piece has burnt, some water may be added in the gas jar. Now the solu- tion may be tested with blue litmus if it turns red then the solution is acidic.
