Aromatic rings containing -NH(2)-NHR or ...

Aromatic rings containing `-NH_(2)-NHR or -NR_(2)` groups do not undergo Friedel-Crafts reaction. Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`-NH_(2), -NHR and -NR_(2)` groups are electron releasing groups, but these are converted into powerful electron-attracting groups as a result of Lewis acid -Lewis base reaction with `AlCl_(3)`.
