JEE Advanced 2025

JEE Advanced is a prestigious national-level engineering entrance examination that provides a pathway for science enthusiasts to secure admission to their desired engineering colleges. Annually, around 2.5 lakhs of students from science backgrounds appear for this exam across the country, aiming to fulfil their dreams of studying in top engineering institutions.

This Computer-Based Exam is conducted in a rotation by the seven prestigious IITs, which include IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Roorkee, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, and IIT Guwahati. These institutions collectively organize and oversee the examination. IIT Kanpur is the organizing body for JEE Advanced 2025. The exam is scheduled for 18th May (Sunday) 2025.

JEE Advanced Qualifying candidates have the opportunity to pursue Bachelor's degrees, Integrated Master's programs, and Bachelor-Master dual degrees. The offered degrees include BS, B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Tech-M.Tech dual degree, 'BS & MS dual degree,' integrated M.Sc., and integrated M.Tech.

3.0JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 

The requirements for admission into IITs through JEE Advanced Examination include a qualifying exam, minimum grades, and more. Candidates will be disqualified if the JEE Advanced 2025 qualifying requirements are not met. It should be mentioned that JEE Advanced 2025 will only accept applicants who have passed JEE Main. All applicants carefully review the JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria before submitting their application to see if they qualify for admission or not. Candidates must meet all requirements for JEE Advanced eligibility, including those relating to age, the number of attempts, qualifying exam scores, and more.

Here are the 5 criteria:

  1. JEE Main 2025 Scores - Candidates from all categories should be among the top 2,50,000 candidates in the JEE Main 2025 B.E/B.Tech. Paper 1.
  2. Number of Attempts - A candidate is allowed a maximum of two attempts in two consecutive years for JEE Advanced Examination.
  3. Prior Admission to IITs - Regardless of previous admissions, whether the applicant continued in the program or accepted an IIT seat in the past, the candidate will not be eligible for admission to an IIT.
  4. Age Limit - Candidates must be at least 18 years old and have been born on or after October 1, 2000. SC, ST, or PwD candidates must have a five-year age relaxation, so they should have been born on or after October 1, 1995.
  5. Class 12 Examination Appearance Requirements - Students who passed their high school in 2024 or 2025 are eligible to apply for the JEE Advanced 2025, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.

Eligibility Criteria for Foreigners 

Foreign national candidates must meet a distinct set of JEE Advanced 2025 qualifying requirements. Candidates who are not Indian citizens or whose parents are not from India are regarded as foreign nationals. Candidates who do not fall under the OCI/PIO criteria are counted as foreign nationals.

As per the decision (dated February 03, 2023) passed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil) 891 / 2021, OCI/PIO candidates who have secured OCI/PIO card before 04.03.2021 shall be considered as Indian nationals, for the purpose of admission to IITs.

These Candidates MUST appear in the B.E./B.Tech. Paper of JEE (Main) 2025 and qualify to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025.

Organizing IIT provides the following instructions for overseas applicants who intend to take the JEE Advanced exam:

  • No Reservations: As per the Government of India guidelines, foreign nationals are not eligible for reservations in any categories.
  • Educational Qualification: Foreign nationals applying for JEE Advanced 2025 should have successfully completed their 10+2 level education.
  • International Students in India: International students studying in India can take the JEE Advanced exam under the OPEN category if they have completed their class 12th board examinations with the required percentage.
  • Parental Identification: Foreign nationals are required to provide identification for both of their parents.
  • Seat Allocation: A portion of the available seats in the JEE Advanced program is reserved for foreign applicants, typically around 10%.

4.0JEE Advanced 2025 Application Form and Registration Process 

After the JEE Main 2025 exam results, the application form for JEE Advanced 2025 will be released by the conducting IIT, i.e. IIT Kanpur.

Qualifying candidates will have to register on the official website of JEE Advanced and then fill out the application form online. After submitting the JEE Advanced application form online, candidates will be required to pay the application fees online, with the last date to be announced by the authority.

The detailed steps for the registration and application process are as follows:

Registration Process:

  • Visit the official JEE Advanced website.
  • Register with JEE Main 2025 roll number, password, and security pin.
  • Fill in personal details (name, parents' names, contact info, address).
  • Choose up to eight preferred exam cities.
  • Scan and upload a passport-size photo and signature.
  • Verify and submit the application form.

Documents to be Uploaded in the JEE Advanced 2025 Application Form 

Candidates will be required to upload the following documents while filling out the JEE Advanced 2025 Application form:

  • Class X certificate or Birth Certificate (PDF - 50 KB to 300 KB)
  • Class XII (or equivalent exam) Certificate (PDF - 50 KB to 300 KB)
  • Category Certificate (PDF - 50 KB to 300 KB)
  •  An additional category Certificate (Optional) (PDF - 50 KB to 300 KB)
  • PwD Certificate (PDF - 50 KB to 300 KB)

7.0Exam Pattern of JEE Advanced 2025 

ALLEN informs you that the JEE Advanced exam pattern changes annually for both papers. Candidates can refer below exam pattern to understand the differences between JEE Advanced Paper 1 and Paper 2.

JEE Advanced 2025 Exam Pattern

  • The exam will be conducted in an online mode (computer-based test) only.
  •  There will be two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2. Each paper will last 3 hours, and all candidates must take both exams. Hence, the total duration of the exam will be 6 hours.
  • The exam will be in Hindi and English languages. Candidates can opt for either of the two.
  • The marking scheme for the exam changes each year. Hence, instructions regarding the marking scheme will be mentioned in the “Instructions to Candidates” section of the exam paper.
  • There will be three different sections in both papers - Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.

8.0JEE Advanced 2025 Mock Test 

Students must take mock tests regularly after completing the syllabus and practising questions, this will help them understand the exam pattern and assess their level of preparation. Mock tests also aid in gauging the exam's difficulty level and in developing speed, accuracy, and time management skills. Students can access JEE Advanced 2025 mock tests on ALLEN's platform and the JEE Advanced Official Website. 

Here's how you can attempt the mock tests from the official website once they become available:

  • Visit - jeeadv.ac.in/
  • Go to the Examination option.
  • You will find the links for Practice Tests 1 and 2.
  • Click on either of the links.
  • You will be asked to log in with your JEE Advanced registration details.
  • After this, you can download the JEE Advanced mock test.

9.0JEE Advanced 2025 Admit Card 

Candidates who have registered for the JEE Advanced 2025 exam and paid the registration fees will be issued the admit card for the exam, which will also mention their designated test centre.

Candidates must carry the admit card along with an ID proof to the exam center; otherwise, they will not be allowed to enter.

10.0JEE Advanced 2025 Answer Key and Response Sheet 

After completing the JEE Advanced 2025 exam, provisional answer keys for Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be displayed on the official website. Candidates can verify their answers using these keys and also submit any challenges they might have. After considering these challenges, the final answer keys and the JEE Advanced 2025 results will be posted. Furthermore, candidates will have the option to view and download their responses for both Papers 1 and 2.

11.0JEE Advanced 2025 Result

The result of the JEE Advanced 2025 exam will be announced expectedly in June 2025.

It will feature candidates' individual marks, the combined score from Paper I and Paper II, and other essential particulars. In addition to these details, it will also indicate the candidate's rank in the Common Rank List (CRL) and category rank (if applicable). After the JEE Adv 2025 results are announced, candidates can obtain their scorecards, which are necessary for their participation in the JEE Advanced counselling process.

12.0JEE Advanced 2025 Expected Cutoff 

JEE Advanced 2025 cutoff marks are the minimum marks that a student should secure to qualify for counselling. The cutoffs to take admission will be different for different colleges but the minimum qualifying cutoff is the same. The aggregate marks will be calculated as the sum of the marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Candidates must satisfy the subject-wise as well as the aggregate qualifying marks to be included in a rank list. It's important to note that the maximum mark for the JEE Advanced 2025 paper is 360.

13.0JEE Advanced 2025 Counselling - JoSAA

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will conduct the common process online. In this process, seats across IITs, IIITs, NITs, and other government-funded technical institutes (GFTIs) will be distributed among the candidates. Participants in the Joint Seat Allocation process must have achieved a Rank in JEE Adv 2025. JoSAA is only conducted online. To participate in the joint seat allocation procedure, all applicants who meet the admissions requirements must fill out a list of the courses and institutions they like.
