What is the maximum number of emission ...

What is the maximum number of emission lines when th eexcited electron of a H atom in`n = 6` drop to the ground state?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The number of line s producted when an electron from the nth shell to the ground state is
`(n(n- 1))/(2)`
So the required number of emission lines is `(6(6-1))/(2)= 15`
