NEET Counselling 2024
1.0What is NEET UG 2024 Counselling?
The Counselling process for NEET UG 2024, aimed at facilitating admission to MBBS and BDS courses, will be administered by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). This applies to the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in government colleges and 100% seats in deemed/central universities, ESIC/AFMC, AIIMS, JIPMER, Delhi University (DU), BHU, and AMU. This Counselling was tentatively scheduled for the second week of June, but as per the latest update, it is deferred till further notice.
The NEET UG Counselling process for AIQ will be conducted in four rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 (formerly known as the Mop-up round), and the stray vacancy round. Additionally, if there are still vacant seats after the initial four rounds, further rounds of Counselling may be introduced, depending on seat availability.
For seats under the control of other states, universities, or institutions, the Counselling process will be carried out as per the notifications issued separately by the respective authorities. These authorities will create merit lists for candidates based on the categories they declared during the NEET application process.
As soon as the NEET exam is over, candidates will have to calculate their final scores based on answer keys. The NEET 2024 result will be out a month after the exam concludes. Candidates can then use the actual rank and the test result to predict with some accuracy the colleges they will be offered. The NEET 2024 admissions process will begin a week after the announcement of the results. The following section provides an overview of the post-NEET 2024 phases, which include the period immediately following the NEET exam and the period after NEET results are announced.
