JEE Advanced Examination consists of two papers, which are carried out in two shifts on the same day. The candidates need to appear in both papers to qualify on a merit basis. The online exam is held in various cities across India. JEE Advanced is conducted for the sole purpose of granting admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), which are among the most esteemed engineering institutions in India.
In this article, candidates will know the exam pattern, difficulty level, expected cutoff, weightage and marking scheme for the JEE Advanced exam and thus have an idea about their chances of admission. Aspirants can check the detailed JEE Advanced Paper 1 and Paper 2 analysis on this page.
JEE Advanced 2024 was conducted in two sessions (Paper 1 and Paper 2). Paper-1 was conducted from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in the morning session and Paper-2 was conducted from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the evening session for candidates applying for engineering seats in the most esteemed engineering institutions in India.
Below, we have provided a brief overview of the JEE Advanced 2024 Exam Analysis by ALLEN Experts.
In the JEE Advanced 2024 Physics exam, the focus was predominantly on the Class 12 syllabus. Paper 1 was generally easier, whereas Paper 2 was moderate with more complex calculations.
In the table given, we have provided the JEE Advanced 2024 Physics Paper Analysis.
The Chemistry section of JEE Advanced 2024 was divided into Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry, with a notable emphasis on Class 12 topics. The Organic Chemistry paper, ranging from moderate to tough, demanded thorough understanding rather than rote memorization. In contrast, the Physical Chemistry paper was relatively straightforward with balanced coverage of Class 11 and 12 topics.
Here is a brief table summarizing the JEE Advanced 2024 Chemistry Paper Analysis.
The Mathematics section in JEE Advanced 2024 was varied and predominantly favored Class 12 topics. The difficulty level ranged from easy to tough, with the majority of questions being moderate and requiring careful reading due to their abstract and complex nature. Overall, while the paper was approachable, it challenged students to apply their knowledge effectively under exam conditions.
Find the table below for an overview of the JEE Advanced 2024 Mathematics Paper Analysis.
According to experts and student feedback, the overall difficulty level was considered moderate to difficult, with Physics being generally easier than JEE Advanced 2022 and Mathematics remaining challenging. Chemistry had a slightly higher weightage for Organic Chemistry.
Below is the JEE Advanced weightage analysis (Chapter-Wise Distribution) of Physics questions and marks of JEE Advanced 2024 (Paper - 1 & 2) for your reference.
The overall chemistry paper was moderate to difficult. Almost all the topics were covered in both papers.
Paper 1 of Mathematics was difficult and lengthy. While Paper 2 was of moderate level and lengthy. In both the papers, questions were asked from Functions, Matrices, Permutation and Combination, Conic Section, Probability and Statics, Complex Numbers, Vectors and 3-D Geometry. The number of questions from Calculus was less as compared to previous years. Solution of the triangle was removed from the syllabus but still, questions were asked by making comprehension.
Given below is the JEE Advanced 2023 analysis of both papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2). Each paper had 51 questions.
Difficulty Level Analysis: Question wise (PAPER - 1)
