Calculate how many cubic decimetre of co...

Calculate how many cubic decimetre of concrete materials will be needed to construct two cylindrical pillars each of whose diameter is `5*6` decimetres and height is `2*5` metres. Calculate the cost of plastering the curved surface area of the two pillars at Rs. 125 per sq-metres.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The radius of the pillar `= (5.6)/(2) dcm = 2.8 dcm = 0.28m`
and height `= 2.5` meters ` = 2.5 xx 10 dcm = 25 dcm`
Total volume of the two pillars `= 2xx(22)/(7)xx(2.8)^(2)xx25` cubic-dcm
`=2xx (22)/(7) xx 2.8 xx 2.8 xx25` cubic-dcm ` = 1232` cubic-dcm
Again, the total curved surface area of two pillars `= 2xx2xx(22)/(7) xx 0.28xx2.5` sq-metres
`=8.8` sq-metres.
Hence the required cost `= Rs. 8.8xx125=Rs. 1100`.
