How is the reaction `Fe + CuSO_(4) to FeSO_(4) + Cu` a redox reaction ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In the reaction , Fe loses two electrons and gets oxidized to ` Fe_(2+)` ion. `Cu^(2+)` ion, on the other hand, receives these two electrons and gets reduced to Cu. Hence , this is a redox reaction .
