In meso compound, there is less strain is less strain of the `trans-(Me)` groups than in `(+-)` compound where the `(Me)` groups are in cis-position.
Thus, the activation energy of each `T.S` of the former reaction is lower than that of the corresponding transition states of the latter reaction.
