In meso compound, there is less strain is less strain of the `trans-(Me)` groups than in `(+-)` compound where the `(Me)` groups are in cis-position.
Thus, the activation energy of each `T.S` of the former reaction is lower than that of the corresponding transition states of the latter reaction.

Fe^(3+) compounds are more stable than Fe^(2+) compounds because

When p-aminophenol reacts with one molar equivalent of acetic anhydride, a compound acetaminophen (A, C_(8)H_(9)NO_(2) ) is formed that dissolves in dilute NaOH. When A is treated with one equivalent of NaOH followed by ethyl iodide, compound B is formed. What is the structure of B? Explain your reasoning.

A compound [A] with molecular formula C_(4)H_(10)O reacts rapidly with metallic sodium but very slowly with Lucas reagent. When [A] treated with hot concentrated H_(2)SO_(4) , it gives a compound [B] C_(4)H_(8) which upon hydration with aqueous H_(2)SO_(4) forms a compound [C] with molecular formula C_(4)H_(10)O . The compound [C] is almost unert to metallic sodium but reacts rapidly with Lucas reagent. What are the compounds [A], [B] and [C] ? Explain the reaction involved.

Why Mn^(2+) compounds are more stable than Fe^(2+) compounds towards oxidation to their + 3 state ?
