Uranium ""(92)U^(238) is not suitable fo...

Uranium `""_(92)U^(238)` is not suitable for chain reaction . Why ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

This is because only fast moving neutrons of 12 MeV energy can cause fission of `._92U^(238)` nuclei. Such neutrons have chance of interaction. They escape the fissionable material without causing fission.
