Sum of magnitudes of the two forces acti...

Sum of magnitudes of the two forces acting at a point is `16 N` if their resultant is normal to the smaller forces and has a magnitude `8N` then the forces are .

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`F_(1)+F_(2) =116"_______"(1)` Resultant force is perpen-dicular to `F_(1)` the `F_(2)^(2) -F_(1)^(2) =F^(2)`
`F_(2)^(2)-F_(1)^(2) =8^(2) rArr (F_(2) -F_(1))(F_(2)+F_(1))=64`
`(F_(2)-F_(1))xx16=64"_______"(2)`
Solving (1) & (2), we get `F_(1)=6N,F_(2)=10N` .
