Why does `O_3` act as a powerful oxidising agent?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`O_(3)` is an endothermic compound. On heating, it readily decomposes to give dioxygen and nascent oxygen.
`O_(3) overset("Heat") (rarr) O_(2) + O` (nascent oxygen)
Since nascent oxygen is very reactive, therefore, `O_(3)` acts as a powerful oxidising agent.
