2) Hence it has 8 protons and 8 electrons.
Step - 1 : The K - shell can accommodate maximum 2 electrons, so the first 2 electrons fill the shell of n = 1.
Step - 2 : The other 6 electrons will fill the higher shell n = 2 or the L-shell.
Step - 3 : Then the electronic structure for oxygen atom is 2, 6.
