What is linkage isomerism ? Explain with an example.

Linkage isomers:
This type of isomers arise when an ambidentate ligands is bonded to the central metal atom/ ion through either of its two different donor atoms. For example the nitrite ion is bound to the central metal ion ` CO^(3+) ` through a nitrogen atom in complex I and through oxygen atom in complex (II)
Eg. ` (1) [Co(NH_3) _5 (NO_2) ]^(2+) ` (II) . ` [Co(NH_3) _5 ONO]^(2+) `
