If the equation `(4x-3)^(2)-2(x+3)=0` is expressed in the form `ax^(2)+bx+c=0(ane0)` then the value of a is

A

`-26`

B

26

C

`-16`

D

16

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given that `(4x-3)^(2)-2(x+3)=0`
or, `(4x)^(2)-2.4x.3+(3)^(2)-2x-6=0`
or, `16x^(2)-24x+9-2x-6=0`
or, `16x^(2)-26x+3=0`
Comparing with the equation `ax^(2)+bx+c=0` we get, a=16.
Hence the required value of a is 16.
