How do substances like carbon dioxide `(CO_(2))` and water `(H_(2)O)` move in and out of the cell?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When `(CO_(2))` accumlates is high concentration inside the cell, diffusion occurs. `CO_(2)` moves out of the cell from the region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration. When a cell is placed in a solution with a different solute concentration the water tends to move either in or out of the cell according to its concentration gradient by the process of osmosis.
