0.24g sample of a compound of oxygen and...

0.24g sample of a compound of oxygen and boron was found by analysis to contain 0.144g of oxygen and 0.096g of boron. Calculate the percentage composition of the compound by weight. (AS-1)

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Total mass of compound=0.24 g given mass of boron =0.096g
Mass of oxygen =`0.144g`
Thus, percentage of boron by weight in the compound= `=0.096//0.245xx100 %=40%`
And, percentage of oxygen by weight in the compound `=0.144//0.24xx100%=60%`.
