How much copper can be obtained from 100 g of anhydrous copper sulphate?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Anhydrous copper sulphate = `CuSO_(4)`
Molecular mass of `CuSO_(4)` = 63.5+ 32+ (16 `xx` 4)
= 63.5 + 32 + 64
= 159.5 g
159.5 g of `CuSO_(4)` contains 63.5 g of copper.
`:. ` 100 g of `CuSO_(4)` contains `63.5/159.5 xx 100 = 0.39811xx100`
= 39.81 g of copper
