Magnesite is a carbonate of magnesium . Magnesite when heated at `800^@C` to `100^@C` at the `CO_2` content in it driven off. The residue so obtained is known as calcined magnesite.
`underset(("Magnesite"))(MgCO_3)overset(800^@C" to "1000^@C)rarrunderset(("Magnesia"))(MgO)+CO_2uarr`
