Two bodies have a mass ratio of 3:4. The force applied on the bigger mass produces an acceleration of 12 `ms^(-2)`. What could be the acceleration of the other body , if the same force acts on it .

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Mass ratio of the bodies `=3:4` and same force is `(m_(1):m_(2))` acting on the body and `a_(2)=12ms^(-2)`
`therefore m_(1)a_(2)=m_(2)a_(2)`
`(m_(1))/(m_(2))=(a_(2))/(a_(1)) rArr (3)/(4)=(a_(2))/(a_(1))`
`therefore a_(1)=(4)/(3)xx12=16ms^(-2)`
