The wavelength of Lyman series is given by
`(1)/(lambda)=R[(1)/(l^(2))-(1)/(n^(2))]`
Where n=2,3,4,…………
For minimum wavelength,`n=oo`
`therefore (1)/((lambda_(min))_(Lyman))=(R)/(1)` .........(i)
The wavelength of Balmer series is given by
`(1)/(lambda)=R[(1)/(2^(2))-(1)/(n^(2))]`
Where n=3,4,5.........
For minimum wavelength ,`n=oo`
`therefore(1)/((lambda_(min))_(Balmer))=(R)/(4)`............(ii)
Divide (ii)by (i),we get
`((lambda_(min))_(Lyman))/(lambda_(min))_(Balmer)=(1)/(4)=0.25`
