Calculate the percentage composition in ...

Calculate the percentage composition in terms of mass of solution obtained by mixing `300 g` of a `25%` and `400 g` of a `40%` solution by mass.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
33.57%,66.43%

Mass of solute (1) ` = (300 xx 25)/(100) = 75 g `
Mass of solute (2) ` = (400 xx 40)/(100) = 160 g`
Total mass of solute ` = 75+160= 325 g`
Total mass of solution ` = 300+400 = 700 g`
% mass of solute ` = (235)/(700) xx 100 = 33.57 %`
% mass of solvent ` = 100 -33.5 = 66.43%`
