Hydrogen gas is usually liberated when an acid reacts with a metal.
Take few pieces of zinc granules in a test tube and add 5 ml of diliute HCl. Shake it well. Tiny bubbles rise up in the solution. Pass this gas produced into a soap solution. Soap bubbles are formed. These soap bubbles contain gas.
We can test if the gas evolved is hydrogen gas by bringing a burning splint near the soap bubble. The gas in the bubble burns with a pop sound proving that the gas is Hydrogen.
