Zinc liberates hydrogen gas when reacted...

Zinc liberates hydrogen gas when reacted with dilute nitric acid whereas copper does not. Why ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Zinc is more reactive than hydrogen and hence it displaces hydrogen from dilute HCl, whereas copper is less reactive than hydrogen hence it does not show any reaction.
