Define the principal focus of a concave mirror.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When light rays, parallel and close to the principal axis, are incident on a concave mirror, after reflection they meet (or converge) to a point on the principal axis of the mirror. This point is called as the Principal focus (F) of the concave mirror. Concave mirror is therefore called a Converging mirror.
