A cubical block of side 7 cm is surmounted by a hemisphere. What is the greatest diameter the hemisphere can have? Find the surface area of the solid.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Total surface area of solid=surface area of sides+5(face area)+(face area-base of hemisphere)
=`2pir^2+5a^2+(a^2-pir^2)`
=`6a^2+pir^2`
=`2*7*7+22/7*7/2*7/2`
=`332.5 cm^2`.
