Balmer showed in 1885 on the basis of experimental observations that if spectral lines then the visible lines of the hydrogen spectrum obey the following formula :
`vec( v) = 109677 (1)/(2^(2)) - (1)/( n^(2))cm^(-1) `
The series of line described by this formula are called the Balmer series. They Balmer series of hydrogen spectrum which apear i n the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum
