The reactions shows under are redox reactions.

In above reaction, Na is attached with more electronegative element. So oxidation of Na is occur and `Cl_(2),O_(2)` and S attached with more electropositive element so reduction of `Cl_(2),O_(2)` and S occurs.
Each process can be considered as two seperate steps :

Here, in first step Na loses `e^(-)` and in second step `Cl_(2)` gain `e^(-)`.
Redox reaction is such reaction in which electron transfer into one reaction into another reaction.
