Modification of roots means roots that are modified to carry on some special functions apart from absorption of water. These functions could be storage, assimilation, additional support etc.
(a) Banyan trees: Has modified prop roots.
(b) Turnip: Fleshy tap root modified to store food.
(c) Mangrove trees: Has pneumatophores or respiratory roots that helps in exchange of gases for respiration.
