Out of `Cr^(2+)` and `Cr^(3+)`, which one is stable in aqueous solution?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`Cr^(3+)` is more stable than `Cr^(2+)` in aqueous solutions. It is because of greater hydration enthalpy of `Cr^(3+)` ions due to its small size and higher charge.
