Glycosidic bond. Glycosidic bond is a covalent bond that joins two monosaccharide units. This bond is formed between two carbon atoms of two adjacent monosaccharides linking them by a C-O-C bridge. The linkage is accompanied by the loss of a water molecule.
Peptide bond. When amino acids unite to form proteins, the amino group of one amino acid molecule forms a chemical bond with the carboxyl group of the other. The resulting linkage is called a peptide bond. This linkage process continues until all amino acids necessary for the formation of a protein are joined together. This process involves the loss of one water molecule between the two amino acids.
Phosphodiester bond. In a nucleic acid, a phosphate moiety links the 3.- carbon of one sugar of one nucleotide to the 5.-carbon of the sugar of the succeeding nucleotide. This bond between the phosphate and hydroxyl group of sugar is known as an ester bond. Such two ester bonds on either sides of sugar molecule is called phosphodiester bond.
