The unit of force in SI system is newton...

The unit of force in SI system is newton (N) and in CGS system is dyne. One newton is equal to 1 kg m `s^(-2)` and 1 dyne is equal to 1 g cm `s^(-2)`. How many dynes make one newton?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given that: 1 N= 1 kg m `s^(-2)`
1 dyne= 1 g cm `s^(-2)`
But 1 kg= 1000 g and 1 m = 100 cm
`therefore 1 N=1 kg m s^(-2)=(1 kg) (1 m s^(-2))`
`=((1 kg)(1m))/((1s)^(2))=((1000g)(100cm))/((1s)^(2))=10^5gcms^(-2)=10^5` dyne
