Adsorption : 1. The phenomenon leading higher concentration of any molecular species at the surface than in the bulk of a solid is called adsorption.
2. It is a surface phenomenon.
3. It is rapid to start with but its rate decreases with time.
4. Example : Adsorption of water vapour on silica get.
Absorption : 1. The phenomennon in which a substance (gas or liquid) in uniformly distributed throughout the body of a solid or liquid (called absorbent), is called absorption.
2. It is a bulk phenomenon.
3. It occurs at a uniform rate.
4. Example : Absorption of water vapour by anhydrous calcium chloride.
