The H-O-H in were is nearly `107^(@)` while the R-O-R is nearly `110^(@)` .Both water and ether contain two lone pairs of electrons .The bond angle in water is less `109^(@)28`.(i.e , the predicted angle in `sp^(3)`- hybridised oxygen ).It is due to greater l.p-l.p . repulsions than l.p-b.p. and b.p - b.p repulsions .the bond angle in ethers is more than `109^(@)28` , It is due to greater steric reoulsions between bulky alkyl groups .
