What is corrosion?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Corrosion is process of deterioration of a metal as a result of its reaction with air or water surrounding it.
In case of lron, corrosion is called Rusting.
Factor whichaffect corrision :
1. Presence· of Impurities in metals : The Impurities help in setting up volatic cells, which increase the speed of corrosion.
2. Presence of `CO_2` in water : Presence of `CO_2` in natural water increase the rusting of iron. Water containing `CO_2` acts as an electrolyte and increase the flow of electron from one place to another.
