Why does distilled water not conduct electricity, whereas rain water does ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Distilled water does not dissociate into ions. S does not conduct electricity. Rain water has dissolved in it which become.s carbonic acid.
`CO_2 + H_2O + H_2CO_3`
This carbonic acid dissociate into ions.
`H_2CO_3 + 2H_2O to H_2CO_3`
These ions are responsible for electrical conductivity rain water.
