Why noble gases are inert or inactive ?...

Why noble gases are inert or inactive ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The elements present in Group 18 react with a few elements only under certain condition: 1. The atoms of noble gases have stable closed shell electronic configuration 2. Exceptionally high ionisation energies. As all these elements are gases under normal condition of temperature and-pressure, and react with few elements only under certain conditions.
