What is the cause of formation of hydrogen bond?

When hydrogen is bonded to electronegative element, the electron pair shared between the two atoms is more towards the electronegative element. As a result, the hydrogen atom becomes highly electropositive with respect to electronegative atom. The hydrogen aatom acquires partial positive charge `(delta^+)` and electrongegative acquires partial negative charge `(delta^-)`. This results in eletrostatic force of attraction, shown below:
