Boiling point of HCI is lower than HF . ...

Boiling point of HCI is lower than HF . Explain why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In case of HF intermolecular H-bonding occurs. They get associated with each other and boil at higher temperature.

Due to low e lectronegativity of c.e atom, H- bonding does not take place in HCl. Hence, it boils at a lower temperature.
