Assertion- Most of the enzyme are proteins, which catalyse biochemical reactions.
Reason- The enzyme itself is unchanged in the reaction, its presence allows the reaction to takes place.

A

Both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of assertion

B

Both assertion and reason are true, but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.

C

assertion is true, but reason is false

D

assertion is false, but reason is true

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

Enzymes are either proteins or RNA (e.g. sribosome) that catalyses a specific chemical reactionn. It does not affect the equilibrium of the catalysed reaction. It just enchances the rate of a reaction by providing a reaction path with a lower activation energy. enzyme itself remains unchanged after reaction.
