(a) List in tabular form three chemical properties on the basis of which we can
differentiate between a metal and a non-metal.
(b) Give reasons for the following:
(i) Most metals conduct electricity well.
(ii) The reaction of iron (III) oxide `[Fe_(2)O_(3)]` with heated aluminium is used to join

(a) n/a.
(b) (i) Most metals allow the current to pass from one end to the other due to the
movement of walence electrons present in it.
(ii) This displacement reaction is highly exothermic. The amonut of heat evolved is
so large that the metals are produced in the molten state and is thus used to join
cracked machine parts and it is known as thermit reaction.
