A particle is moving along a circular path of radius 5 m with a uniform speed 5 m/s. What will be the average acceleration when the particle completes half revolution ?

A

`10 m//s^(2)`

B

zero

C

`(10)/(pi) m//s^(2)`

D

`10 pi m//s ^(2)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

The change in velocity `( Delta v ) ` of the particle , when it goes from A to B is 5- (-5) = 10 m/s
and the time taken by the particle to complete half revolution is
`Delta t = ("Distance ") /("Velocity ") =(pi r) /(5) = (pi xx5)/( 5) =pi s `
`therefore ` Averahe accelartion ` = (Delta v)/(Delta t)=(10) /(pi) m//s^(2)`
Note : The body has no tangential acceleration as the magnitude of the remains constant . The change arises due to change in the direction of motion . The C.P acceleration is constant in magnitude but its direction changes at every point .
