State whether the mutual distances between the circular magnetic lines of force obtained on a plane, perpendicular to a straight long current carrying wire would be the same or not ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Accroding to the formula `B=(mu_(0))/(4pi)*(2I)/(r)`, greater the distance from the current carrying wire, lessar the valeu of the magnetic field. Again, accroding to the properties of magnetic lines of force, greater the strenght of magnetic field at a place, greater will be the number density of magnetic lines of force and hence their mutual distances decreases. So, the mutual distance between the circular magnetic lines of force gradiually increases with the radius of the lines.
