Find out the minimum pressure required to compress 500 `dm^(3)` of aiir at 1 bar to 200 `dm^(3)` at `30^(@)C`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In this process, mass and temperature of the gas remain constant but volume and pressure of the gas change.
Given: `P_(1)=1`bar, `V_(1)=500dm^(3),V_(2)=200dm^(3)`
Applying boyle's law, `P_(2)=(P_(1)V_(1))/(V_(2))=(1xx500)/(200)=2.5` bar
So, the minimum pressure needed to compress the gas is 2.5 bar.
